Earlier in 2025, we presented the Soulful Country trend. Where the old and the new blend harmoniously, for a rustic yet modern interior style - a combination of comfort alongside treasured family heirlooms, thrifted items and thoughtfully sourced antiques. The country décor look is perennial for interiors, however, it is evolving with a deeper embrace for grounding, earthy tones and a more humble, less curated look.
If you want to translate the Farmhouse look in your home for 2025 and beyond, here are our five top tips for creating a space that is warm and welcoming with the classic, farmhouse charm.

Choose colours from nature’s palette.
Our Soulful Country trend from early in 2025 was abundant with neutral tones, but as we move through the year, the Farmhouse trend embraces earthier hues, for an aesthetic that feels more connected to the land. With Pantone’s colour of the year Mocha Mousse inspiring interior decoration, the Farmhouse trend is awash with tones that echo the landscape, including rich brown tones, natural greens, warm terracotta and versatile creams. From the walls, to soft furnishings, the layering of nature’s palette brings together spaces that invites the outside, inside.

Style sustainably with timeless, vintage accents
Antique and second-hand markets are bustling with nostalgia. And while replacing all of the furniture and décor in your home is not a sustainable choice, introducing key pieces can add instant personality. If trawling markets is not your thing, online marketplaces such as Vinterior allow you to scour treasure troves from the comfort of your couch, or let relatives know you are keen to rehome forgotten heirlooms - you just never know what is collecting dust in the loft! But… if markets are your thing, look online for the best bazaars in your area, get there early to snap up the best items and don’t be afraid to haggle. Consider investing in freestanding lamps with vintage shades, mismatched picture frames and seasonal textiles - whether that’s eiderdowns for the bedroom, linen textiles in the living space, or patterned scatter cushions. Introducing antique pieces adds to the sense of history in the home as you continue to add to its story.
Layer textured materials throughout the space
Whether it’s embracing original wooden beams, or bringing in woven textiles to the home - there is a real place for layered, natural and artisanal textures in the Farmhouse trend. Creating a lived-in, textile experience, draws the space back to the natural world, which ties in beautifully with the from-the-earth colour story. Choosing a combination of textures adds authenticity to earthy homes; a knitted throw over a vintage, leather arm chair or galvanised candlesticks placed on a wooden mantelpiece are two ideas for how the textures come together to create an inviting, tactile experience.
Choose versatile floor coverings for the whole family
When it comes to floor coverings for the home, you usually have to choose style or function. Coveting a traditional Persian rug for the living room? That’s great, but the woven textile designs aren’t geared to stand up to the demands of family life - and the puzzle piece playmats usually associated with the baby days, are often less-than-beautiful. That’s where Totter + Tumble playmats come in, offering a simple, stylish solution to the pretty vs function quandary. Available in five sizes, from the biggest single piece mat on the market, to the versatile runner sizes, ideal for unrolling in boot rooms, pantries, entryways and more - choose from Totter + Tumble’s selection of design-led patterns and be assured of ultimate comfort underfoot for all of the household. Ideal for the Farmhouse trend, is our Persian collection. Inspired by one of a kind Persian rugs, and taking their names from renowned Antique markets.
Introduce nature as a design element
Houseplants remain an integral decorative feature of homes, as highlighted in previous trend pieces such as our Bio Artisan styling trend. Coinciding with the Farmhouse aesthetic, there is an intentional approach to bringing the outdoors, indoors. While beautiful, houseplants can also have air purifying qualities, so home health and beauty go hand-in-hand. To make an impact, large plants are the star of the show for Farm cottage aesthetic; including ornamental fig or olive trees or arrangements of flowers picked from the garden. There can be a seasonal element to draw the space back to the land too, such as tablespaces adorned with harvested crops - think squashes and pumpkins for the autumn tabletop.
